Male’ City Council has decided to impose fines for posting street advertisements without acquiring prior permission.
As per the regulations on posting announcements and advertisements in Male’ City, request for permission to post advertisements must be submitted to the city council via a written document, with details of how the advertisement will appear. The city council stated individuals who fail to abide by this regulation would be handed fines of varying amounts, depending on the size of the advertisement.
The city council announced that unauthorised advertising boards smaller than 2’ x 4’ will result in a fine of USD16. Unauthorised advertising boards between 2’ x 4’ and 4’ x 8’ will result in a fine of USD55. Boards that exceed this size will result in a fine of USD80.
The city council also announced that unauthorised advertising posters, flyers and banners made from paper or cloth will result in fines of USD1.6 for advertisements smaller than 2’ x 4’. Similar advertisements between 2’ x 4’ and 4’ x 8’ will result in a fine of USD5, and those that exceed this size will result in a fine of USD6.5.
