Single sessions to be implemented in three major schools of Male’

Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has announced the decision to implement single sessions in three major schools of the Greater Male’ Region.

Speaking at the Parliament of the Maldives, Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali said implementation of single sessions in schools is an important policy of the current administration. However, the minister highlighted there are difficulties in implementing this policy, especially in schools of the Greater Male’ Region, due to space constraints. She noted Izzuddeen School has been established as a single session school, while the four new schools to be established in Hulhumale’ would also be operated as single-session schools.

The education minister further revealed plans to convert three major schools in Male’ to single-session schools. As such, she noted the government plans to implement single sessions in Majeediyya School, Aminiyya School and Iskandhar School. She also revealed plans to convert Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) to a single session school, once the annex building of the school is constructed in Hulhumale’.

The education minister said although there are plans to convert more schools in Male’ to single-session schools, it is not yet clear when the budget will be provided for the projects. She added many of the schools in the atolls have been successfully converted to single session schools.
