Maldives Tourism Golden Jubilee monument unveiled in VIA

Ministry of Tourism along with the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) have unveiled the Maldives Tourism Golden Jubilee Monument at Velana International Airport (VIA).

The monument is placed next to the monument symbolising the two World Leading Destination awards. MACL has now opened the opportunity to take photos near the monument for tourists.

Meanwhile, the government has arranged several activities to mark the milestone of the golden jubilee year of the tourism industry. As such, the UNWTO Global Summit will also be held in the Maldives to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the tourism sector of the Maldives. The summit will be held from June 14-16.

So far this year, 729,010 tourists have visited the Maldives, which is an increase of 56.1% compared to the previous year. The tourism ministry aims to attract 1.6 million tourists this year.
