Gov’t to provide training opportunities for Imams and Khatibs

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali has stated the government is working to provide training opportunities abroad for Imams and Khatibs. He made the remarks at the closing ceremony of the Imam and Khatib training programme held in Fuvahmulah City.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Zahir highlighted the importance of providing more training opportunities for Imams and Khatibs to increase their capabilities and that the government is working to facilitate more opportunities for training abroad. He also praised the participants of the training programme for devoting their time to their professional development to excel in their field.

Furthermore, Minister Zahir urged individuals to give their full commitment to such training programmes, as Imams and Khatibs play an important role in society. He also advised Imams and Khatibs to refrain from behaviour that is unbecoming of their stature, as it would diminish their reputation among the public. He thanked Islamic ministry officials and the Fuvahmulah City Council for their work in conducting the training programme.

A total of 38 individuals participated in the three-day training programme, during which they were taught the rules for the correct pronunciation of the letters in the Holy Quran, and the policies related to Friday prayers and the Civil Service Commission (CSC). They were also taught the proper etiquette to adhere to while fulfilling their duties as Imams and Khatibs.
