RTL ferry service officially launched in Zone 1

The Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry service has officially commenced in Zone 1 of the National Public Ferry Network.

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) began the RTL service in Haa Dhaalu Atoll on May 2 by connecting four high-speed ferries via four routes, after establishing the main station in Kulhudhuffushi City.

Passengers can now use the dedicated website or mobile application to book tickets for the ferries which are scheduled to operate all seven days of the week. MTCC stated the ticket prices have been set to the lowest legally allowed price range. Additionally, people with special needs who are registered at National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) will be able to travel via the RTL ferries for free, and so can children under three years old, provided that they sit on the passenger's lap.

Four ferries with a capacity of 50 passengers are operating on the RTL route. The ferries are air-conditioned with toilet facilities and have dedicated areas for stretches and wheelchairs. The ferries also include USB outlets to charge mobile phones, and passengers using the RTL service will be allowed to bring one luggage and carry-on luggage.
