Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has revealed that passengers can book tickets online for the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry service.
In a tweet, the planning ministry provided a portal link to download mobile applications to book tickets, available at the App Store and Google Play. The ministry also posted an instructional video on booking tickets. One way tickets are priced at USD2-6 while return tickets are priced at USD4-13.
Furthermore, the ministry stated that people with special needs will be able to travel via the RTL ferries for free, and so can a child under three years old, provided that they sit on the passenger's lap.
In May, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) commenced the RTL service in Zone 1 of the National Public Ferry Network, which consists of HaaAlifu Atoll, Haa Dhaalu Atoll, and Shaviyani Atoll. As such, MTCC began the high-speed ferry service by connecting 13 islands in Haa Daalu Atoll via five routes.
Four ferries with a capacity of 560 passengers are operating on the RTL routes. The ferries are air-conditioned and include USB outlets to charge mobile phones. Passengers using the RTL service will be allowed to bring one luggage and a carry-on luggage.
