President meets Kamadhoo Island Council, discusses development plans

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with the Kamadhoo Island Council of Baa Atoll, to discuss the development projects and plans for the island. The meeting was held at the President’s Office on June 9.

During the meeting, the council members shared the primary concerns of the people of Kamadhoo, including erosion, lack of space at the island’s school and health centre, absence of a police post in the island and issues pertaining to the island’s harbour. The council members also shared some of the projects initiated by the council for the development of the island, and requested the president to facilitate a policy that would ensure all government projects align with the land use plan of the island.

During the meeting, President Solih shared the latest updates of important projects that relate to the concerns shared by the council. The president also assured the council members that he would work with the relevant authorities to address other concerns raised by the council.
