Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has secured the majority of the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) of Molhadhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll, after four of the members joined the party.
All five members that were elected to Molhadhoo WDC were independent candidates. Four of them signed for MDP during a special event held on June 9, attended by Parliamentarian Mohamed Shafiu.
As per the registry of the Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM), MDP has the largest membership among all parties of the Maldives. The party has a registered membership of over 54,000 members, although the party’s internal registry includes over 94,000 members.
