The Maldives and Sri Lanka have discussed avenues of collaboration to extend assistance to the Sri Lankan people amid the ongoing economic crisis in the country. The discussion was held during the meeting held between the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Maldives, Adam Maznavee Jaufer Sadiq, and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel.
During the meeting, State Minister Khaleel congratulated the high commissioner on his appointment and expressed confidence that the bilateral relations between the two countries will continue to flourish during his tenure. State Minister Khaleel noted that the Maldives cherishes its relations with Sri Lanka as a close and longstanding partner, and expressed his gratitude to the Government of Sri Lanka for the substantial contributions to the socio-economic development of the Maldives.
State Minister Khaleel and High Commissioner Sadiq referred to the current economic crisis in Sri Lanka and deliberated on avenues of collaboration, to assist Sri Lanka and the Sri Lankan people. The high commissioner thanked the State Minister for the warm welcome and conveyed his strong commitment to cooperate with the Government of the Maldives to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
