Vice President inaugurates Y-PEER training of trainers programme

Vice President Faisal Naseem has inaugurated the Y-PEER training of trainers programme in the Maldives.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Naseem urged the participants to utilise the knowledge gained through the training to invigorate positive change in their communities. He also spoke about the essential role youth could play in providing guidance, love, and support to their peers and preventing their involvement in crimes.

Y-PEER is a global network of more than 2,000 non-profit organisations and governmental institutions, with over 33,000 active memberships. The Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment partnered with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to establish Y-PEER in the Maldives and become a regional Y-PEER member. A total of 31 participants between 18 and 30 joined the 10-day interactive workshop. They represent nine islands from four atolls and the Greater Male’ Region.
