Eighth edition of HafthaaRes begins in Ungoofaaru

The eighth edition of the HafthaaRes programme has commenced in Ungoofaaru, Raa Atoll.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Naeem said the HafthaaRes programme aims to address important issues facing the country including extremism and terrorism and noted that the programme has greatly assisted in the work being conducted under the action plan formulated by the government in 2020.

The HafthaaRes programme is conducted by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, in association with NCTC. The aim of the programme is to facilitate the relevant institutions and authorities to come together with the public to work towards resolving social issues and building a resilient society.

The eighth edition of the HafthaaRes programme will be held for Raa Atoll for five days and sessions will be split into different categories for youth, schools, and councils. Special sessions will also be conducted by NCTC, Maldives Police Service (MPS), Islamic University of Maldives (IUM), and Hope for Women.
