Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted for the construction of the proposed Waste Transfer Station in Kunburudhoo, Haa Dhaalu Atoll.
The contract for the project was signed on June 6. The contract was signed by the Deputy Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Technology Mohamed Ansar, and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of MTCC Shahid Hussain Moosa.
Kunburudhoo will serve as a waste transfer station to the islands of Zone 1 including all islands of Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu, and Shaviyani Atoll. Scope of works for the project includes site clearing and concrete works, screed and block works, roof structure, perimeter drain, and access ramp. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) will be conducted before the commencement of physical works.
The value of the project is USD497,000. The project is to be completed within 140 days.
