Vice President Faisal Naseem has inaugurated the Table Tennis Centre established in Fuvahmulah City. This is the first table tennis facility opened outside of Male’ City.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Vice President Naseem stated the government places a high priority on developing sports facilities and enhancing the skills of young players and athletes. The vice president noted table tennis has been one of the most successful sports for the Maldives with multiple international medals won by the country in this sport. He expressed hope the new centre in Fuvahmulah will enable the identification of new talent and help to advance the sport, while also promoting exercise and a healthy lifestyle among the public.
The table tennis centre in Fuvahmulah will be operated by the Table Tennis Association of the Maldives (TTAM), with a special coach assigned to oversee the facility. TTAM said the facility will be operated full-time.
