State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has commenced the development of the power distribution network in Kudagiri, Kaafu Atoll.
Kudagiri is currently under development as a picnic island for residents of the Greater Male’ Region. STELCO has commenced the development of the power distribution network in the island, and plans to complete the network by 15 days. STELCO revealed 3km of power cables will be laid as part of the project.
Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has reclaimed eight hectares of land for the Kudagiri Picnic Island. MTCC is currently developing the shore protection structures of the island.
Kudagiri Picnic Island will be developed with family rooms, food outlets, huts, and barbeque areas as well as changing rooms with lockers, nursing rooms, and prayer rooms. The island will also have an area allocated for events.
Residents of the Greater Male’ Region currently do not have a convenient picnic location. The residents in the capital region lost the only picnic island within the accessible proximity following the redevelopment of Kudabandos as a resort.
