Road Development Corporation (RDC) has officially commenced fieldwork of the road development project in Velidhoo, Noonu Atoll.
The fieldwork of the project was officially inaugurated by Managing Director of RDC Moosa Ali Manik, Parliamentarian Mohamed Abdulla Shafeeq and President of Velidhoo Island Council Athif Hussain during a special ceremony held on May 23. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several residents of the island.
The contract for the project was signed between the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure and RDC in November last year. The scope of the project includes asphalt paving 5km of roads as well as installation of a stormwater drainage system and street lights. The cost of the project is USD5.7 million.
Velidhoo is one of the most populous islands of Noonu Atoll. The island is home to many economic activities.
