The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has taken disciplinary action against the Chief Magistrate of Hulhumale’ Magistrate Court Siyama Mohamed.
JSC took disciplinary action after investigating a complaint regarding Chief Magistrate Siyama Mohamed releasing a suspect from prison due to lack of evidence, despite the Maldives Police Service (MPS) presenting sufficient evidence to the court. The complaint highlighted she ruled to release the suspect after ignoring the evidence.
JSC stated the investigation has shown that Chief Magistrate Siyama had been negligent in her duties and that the commission has decided to require her to complete a training programme.
