Ooredoo launches special Postpaid for the elderly

Ooredoo Maldives has launched a special Postpaid plan dedicated to the elderly community as part of its activities for the World Telecommunications and Information Society Day.

The package was launched by the Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services Aishath Mohamed Didi. During the launch, the minister said Ooredoo's Senior Citizen Postpaid package is a great initiative that will make it a lot easier for the elderly to navigate through and become a part of the digital world.

The telecommunication company said the plan was launched to enable, encourage and boost the adoption of digital technology usage among the elderly community, under the theme Digital Technologies for Older Persons and Healthy Ageing.

The newly launched package for the elderly community provides up to a 30% discount on their chosen postpaid monthly fee and free data dedicated to Viber customers who are 60 years old and above to help them stay connected with their loved ones. In addition, all customers subscribing to the package will also receive Club Premier Gold membership benefits including special discounts and offers from a vast array of local and international brands and businesses.

To further accelerate the adoption rate of digital technologies by the senior citizens to facilitate their physical, social and mental wellbeing, Ooredoo has assured to continue to hold Digital Literacy Programmes and awareness sessions across the nation. Digital Literacy Programme was initially introduced by Ooredoo in 2018 and continues to conduct sessions focusing on cyber safety, and basic navigation through commonly used digital platforms among the elderly community to stay connected, access information and receive services.
