Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to develop access improvement platforms in six islands under the Integrated National Public Ferry Network (INPFN).
The contract for the project was signed during a special ceremony held on May 16. The contract was signed by Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed and CEO of MTCC Adam Azim.
The access improvement platforms are to be built in Kelaa, Hoarafushi and Dhidhdhoo in Haa Alifu Atoll, Nolhivaranfaru and Hanimaadhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll as well as Kulhdhuffushi City. The total value of the project is over USD320,000, and the project is expected to be completed within 300 days.
MTCC began services of the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high speed ferries under INPFN on May 2. The first phase of INPFN involves linking 40 islands in the Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu and Shaviyani Atoll with high-speed ferries. The ferries used for the service have a capacity of 50 passengers.
