Import export rise, income increases

The number of goods imported and exported from the Maldives has increased by 37% in April this year.

Maldives Customs Service (MCS) stated USD 17.1 million was received as revenue from imports and exports in April 2021 and the amount increased to USD23.4 million in revenue from imports and exports in April this year.

Meanwhile, goods worth USD187 billion were imported to the Maldives in April 2021. The figure increased to USD 304 billion in April this year which is an increase of 63%. The highest number of goods were imported from Oman, India, UAE, and Malaysia. Among the most imported products include machinery, electrical equipment, food items, and oil products.

Furthermore, goods worth USD10.9 million were exported from the Maldives in April 2021 while the figure stood at USD 14.9 million in April this year which is recorded as an increase of 36%. The Maldives exported the highest number of goods to Thailand, Germany, India, and Italy last month. Among the most exported products include fish products.
