Record number of tourists arrive in Addu

The biggest group of tourists travelling via the direct route to Addu since Sri Lankan Airlines commenced flights has arrived in the city.

Speaking to PSM News, Mohamed Firaq, the Managing Director of Ace Aviation Private Limited, the General Sales Agent of Sri Lankan Airlines in the Maldives, said the group that arrived on May 14 included 60 tourists and the travel of the group was arranged by Ace Aviation. He also said such groups are scheduled to arrive in the future. He revealed another 11 such batches have confirmed visits to the Maldives, although he did not disclose any further details.

SriLankan Airlines said this is the largest batch of tourists brought to Addu after COVID-19 restrictions were lifted, revealing the batch of tourists arrived from New Delhi, India.

The flag carrier of Sri Lanka stated it is operating two weekly flights between Colombo and Gan from May 10. In addition, Manta Air is providing domestic connections to the flights operated by Sri Lankan Airlines to Gan.

Developing tourism in Addu is one of the most important policies of the administration.
