Ministry of Tourism has announced 48 awards will be given across 12 different categories in the annual Tourism Awards.
Speaking at a press conference, Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom announced awards are to be given in 12 different categories, including staff accommodation, staff meals, staff recreation/entertainment, healthcare, safe work environment, purchase of local products, local cultural performance, local musician, local DJ, highest parity of local staff and highest number of female staff as well as training and career development. He noted in addition to these awards, the first, second and third ranked facilities will be selected from each of the four types of tourist facilities.
Application for the Tourism Awards will be opened from June 1-30. Criteria for the awards are available from the website of the tourism ministry.
This year’s Tourism Awards will be given during the Tourism Week, to be held from September 27 to October 3.
