Contracts awarded to develop additional facilities for five schools

Ministry of Education has awarded contracts to develop additional facilities required for five schools in the atolls. The contracts were signed during a special ceremony held on May 10.

The contracts were awarded to four different companies. As such, the development of two classrooms and a laboratory in Hoadedhdhoo School, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll and the development of an additional two-storey building in Naalaafushi School, Meemu Atoll were contracted to Pawarey Investments Private Limited. The projects in Hoadedhdhoo School and Naalaafushi School were contracted at prices of USD430,000 and USD496,000 respectively.

In addition, the development of an additional three-storey building in Mulaku School, Meemu Atoll was contracted to Aim Construction Private Limited at a price of USD585,000. Development of a four-classroom building in Noomara School, Shaviyani Atoll was contracted to Nextar Maldives Private Limited at a price of USD303,000, while the development of two new classrooms in Maamendhoo School, Gaafu Alifu Atoll was contracted to Well-Trading Private Limited at a price of USD153,000.

Furthermore, Well-Trading Private Limited has also been contracted to demolish the old Jamaluddin School building in Male’ at a price of USD161,000. The building is being demolished to facilitate the development of a new building at the site for Arabiyya School.

The projects contracted by the education ministry are part of the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP), included in the State Budget.
