Education minister visits EduCity Iskandar in Malaysia

Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has discussed improving the education sector in the Maldives with the senior academic staff of the EduCity Iskandar in Malaysia.

EduCity Iskandar is Asia’s first multi-campus education city with 305-acres of universities, higher education institutions, research and development centres, as well as the EduCity village, hub, sports complex, and recreational facilities.

During the visit to EduCity Iskandar, Minister Aishath met with Managing Director Wan Ahmad Saifuddin and Director of Operations Professor Dr. Sakina Sofia Baharom to discuss possible collaboration in building the capacity of teachers and school principals. The minister also joined an Exchange of Document ceremony between EduCity Iskandar and the Ministry of Education.
Additionally, Minister Aishath and her team had a luncheon networking session with the education partners of EduCity Iskandar and toured the facilities such as the Iskandar Puteri Area, Iskandar Malaysia Studios (IMS), and drone and robotic zone.

Furthermore, Minister Aishath visited the IDRISSI International School in EduCity and met Chief Operating Officer (CEO) Zaliza Alias. The IDRISSI international school is the first Eco-Islamic International School in Malaysia. She also paid a courtesy call on the Chief Minister of Johor Datuk at his official residence and visited the University of Reading Malaysia.
