VIA awarded Airport Health Accreditation Certificate for 2nd time

Velana International Airport (VIA) has been awarded the Airport Health Accreditation Certificate for a second time.

The certificate was awarded by Airport Council International (ACI) to recognise the commitment of the VIA to prioritising health and safety measures in accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Council Aviation Restart Task Force (CART) recommendations, in alignment with the ACI Aviation Business Restart and Recovery guidelines along with industry best practices.

VIA received the first Airport Health Accreditation Certificate in September 2020 for the special health and safety measures taken by the airport during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, VIA was the second airport to be awarded the certificate in the Asia Pacific region and the 12th airport to receive the award worldwide.

Furthermore, the health and safety measures were first implemented in the Maldives at VIA. Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) stated that its work to combat COVID-19 is important for the country and will increase public trust in airport services.
