Ministry of Finance has issued an announcement seeking a contractor to build 200 housing units in Thinadhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
The finance ministry is seeking a contractor build the housing units under a design and build policy. Applicants are required to be a registered construction company under the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. Interested parties are required to submit a bid security of USD65,000, with bid opening scheduled for May 30 at the finance ministry.
The government has been conducting housing projects to resolve the housing issues faced across the country. As such, the government had recently announced its decision to build housing units in Komandoo in Shaviyani Atoll, Kurendhoo in Lhaviyani Atoll, Dhidhdhoo in Haa Alifu Atoll, and Kulhudhuffushi in Dhaalu Atoll. The planning ministry has stated that over 2,000 housing units will be built this year, noting construction of 1,687 housing units are currently in progress under a contractor finance policy.
