MPS conducting a safety check on marine vessels

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has commenced a programme to conduct safety checks on marine vessels.

MPS said the safety check programme is being conducted ahead of the upcoming Eid holidays, which would see a rise in the use of marine transport. MPS said the programme aims to ensure all marine vessels carrying passengers have the necessary safety equipment and resources, and follow the required safety protocols. The programme is set to be conducted until May 2.

MPS said vessels travelling to the atolls, as well as vessels docked in the Male’ North Harbour and T-Jetty will be checked under this programme. MPS added the crew of the vessels will also be provided information on marine safety as part of this programme.

The safety check programme is an initiative of the Marine Investigation Department and the Marine Enforcement and Operations Department of MPS.
