Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives Takeuchi Midori has stated that economic diversification is a critical area to focus on with the Maldives. She made the statement during a courtesy call on Vice President Faisal Naseem at the President’s Office.
At the meeting, Vice President Naseem and Ambassador Midori spoke about the longstanding bonds of friendship between the two nations. The ambassador said economic diversification, the environment, climate change, and disaster management are critical focus areas in working with the Maldives.
Additionally, Vice President Naseem noted that the Maldives has an excellent working relationship with Japan and recalled that Japan has been a reliable developmental partner for the Maldives. The vice president concluded the meeting by extending his gratitude to the Japanese government for its continuous assistance to the Maldives.
