1,000 plots identified from Hulhumale' for Male' residents

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has revealed that 1,000 land plots have been identified to be issued for residents of Male' City as pledged by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

In his Presidential Address this year, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih highlighted the plans to resolve housing difficulties faced by the people of Male’. As such, he announced plans to reclaim land from Giraavaru in Kaafu Atoll and issue 2,000 land plots for the people of Male’. He also highlighted the ongoing construction of 5,000 housing units in Hulhumale’ and plans to issue an additional 1,000 housing units in Hulhumale’ for the people of Male’.

Speaking to PSM News, Managing Director of HDC Suhail Ahmed said HDC has allocated 1,000 land plots from Hulhumale' as pledged by the president to fulfil the pledge of housing made for the people of Male'. Suhail also said the land plots will be provided from Phase II. He said the decision would change the plan for the Hulhumale’ Phase II, adding road construction, and water and sewerage projects in the area are set to begin.

Moreover, the planning ministry has said 60 housing projects in the atolls are currently at different stages of completion, adding 2,159 housing units will be built this year. The ministry added that 2,429 housing units will be built in the second and third quarters of 2023 and 3,361 housing units will be built in 2024.
