MWSC constructs Olhuvelifushi RO Building

Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has completed the construction of the building for reverse osmosis plants in Olhuvelifushi, Lhaviyani Atoll.

The contractor of the project, MWSC, said efforts are currently underway to build water storage facilities. As part of the project, a 9.71km water network will be constructed in Olhuvelifushi with efforts underway to place three tanks to store water produced from the plants. The company said that despite delays in commencing work due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the work is now progressing rapidly.

Meanwhile, as part of the sewerage system in Olhuvelifushi, a sewerage network of 6.56km will be established and an administrative building will be constructed with a pumping line of 1.60km. Under the project, a sea outflow is also being established to remove sewage from the four pumping stations located in different parts of the island.

The project to establish a water and sewerage system in Olhuvelifushi was contracted to MWSC by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure for USD5.2 million. The project was officially commenced on December 18, 2021.
