Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed Minister of External Affairs of India Dr. S. Jaishankar will make an official visit to the Maldives.
Minister Jaishankar is scheduled to visit Addu City from March 26-27 at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid. During the visit, official talks will be held between both ministers to review the progress on bilateral cooperation, following which several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements will be exchanged.
Minister Jaishankar will also call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, and participate in the inauguration ceremony of projects undertaken with the support of Indian grants, including the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement in Addu.
It is the third visit to the Maldives by Minister Jaishankar, since assuming office in May 2019. The foreign ministry stated his visit will be of historic significance, as this will be the first time ever that the Maldives has hosted an official bilateral visit outside the capital Male’ City.
