President confers awards for National Quran Recitation Competition

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has presented awards to the most prestigious winners of the 34th National Quran Recitation Competition.

The National Centre for Holy Quran held the awards ceremony for the competition at the Islamic Centre. President Solih presented the awards to the top winners in the categories of recitation from the book, recitation from memory, and for Hafizes or individuals who have memorised the Quran, in addition to the top institution and first-place winner from the entire competition. In this regard, Aayan Ahmed Inaan and Hanaan Hussain Shareef were the first-place winners of the competition and were also the winners of the category of recitation from the book. Fathimath Shaaha Hussain won in the category of recitation from memory, and Fathimath Shaaha Zahir won in the category of Hafiz. Faafu Atoll Council was awarded in the category of notable institutions.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of State for Islamic Affairs Ilyas Jamal highlighted the importance of adhering to the teachings of Islam to the problems of the world and raising children under the guidance of the Quran.

The competition this year was held virtually for all Maldivians living at home and abroad, and featured six age groups and 1,700 participants. A total of 98 participants represented different state and private institutions in the competition.
