Over 54,000 tourist beds comes to operation

Ministry of Tourism has revealed the number of tourism beds in operation in the Maldives has risen to 54,000 so far this year.

The statistics released by the tourism ministry show the number of tourism beds in operation has risen to 54,340. These include 38,822 beds from resorts, 12,592 beds from guesthouses and hotels, and 2,920 beds brought into operation by liveaboards.

Moreover, a total of 945 tourist facilities have been brought into operation, including 162 resorts, 651 guesthouses, and 149 liveaboards. The total tourist bed capacity registered in the Maldives is 60,047.

The number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives has also been on the rise along with the increased number of beds brought into operation. The statistics show 324,743 tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year, which is a 49% increase compared to the same period last year.

Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has stated 3,000 additional tourist beds from the resort sector will be brought to operation this year and 8,000 beds will be brought into operation the following year.
